I'd say run Windows XP in a virtual machine, but you wouldn't be able to do much gaming on that. That's a tough pickle.

For Linux and if you want to detect games on, you should use TeamSpeak 3, for now it won't show the tracking time for apps and games, but at least it will show that you are running a certain app or game...
