Frequently Asked Questions

About Xf1re

What is Xf1re?
Xf1re is an independent community project that recreates familiar social gaming features such as profiles, friends, communities, game activity, screenshots, videos and messaging.
Are you the original Xfire developers?
No. Xf1re is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by the former Xfire service or its development team.
What is the project's motivation?
The goal is to preserve the social side of PC gaming and restore familiar community features on reliable, maintainable systems.
Is Xf1re free to use?
Yes. Creating an account and using the currently available community features is free.

Accounts and security

How do I create an account?
Open the registration page, choose an available username, provide the required account details and complete the security check.
Can my old Xfire account be restored?
No. Xf1re has no access to the original account database, passwords, friend lists, screenshots or private information. You need to create a new Xf1re account, and an old username can only be used if it is available.
What should I do if I forgot my password?
Use the Lost Password link on the log-on page. If an account matches the e-mail address and e-mail delivery is enabled, a time-limited reset link will be sent.
Why have I not received a password-reset e-mail?
Check the spam folder and confirm that you entered the address used by your account. Delivery can take a few minutes. For privacy, the recovery page does not reveal whether an address belongs to an account.
Can I change my username or e-mail address?
Available account and profile fields can be changed from Profile Settings. Some identity changes may be limited to protect account links and compatible services.
How do I delete my account?
Use the account deletion option in Profile Settings. Review the warning carefully because account deletion removes or schedules removal of related account data and hosted media.

Games and media

Can Xf1re detect new and modern games?
Game support is added gradually. Detection requires a compatible game definition, and some launchers or protected games may need additional work.
Why is my game not detected?
The game may not yet have a definition, its executable or installation path may differ, or the current definition may be outdated. Report the game with its exact edition and executable details.
How do I report a missing or incorrect game?
Use the report link on the relevant game page. If the game has no page yet, send its name, edition, executable name and installation source through Contact Us.
How are screenshots and videos uploaded?
Compatible captures can be uploaded through the supported client workflow. Once processed, they appear on your profile and in the relevant game and activity pages according to their visibility.
Why has my new avatar or community logo not appeared yet?
Updated images are resized into the required variants and their CDN cache is purged. A browser may briefly retain an older copy; refreshing the page after a short wait normally resolves it.
Are animated GIF avatars supported?
Yes. A valid GIF avatar is stored as the compatible animated 160-pixel version. Static avatars are converted to separate 45, 100 and 160-pixel JPEG files.
Where can I find downloadable skins?
Open the Skins page from the site navigation or footer. Each available skin has its own preview and download link.

Friends and communities

How do I add or remove a friend?
Open the user profile and use the friendship action shown there. Pending requests can be accepted or declined, and an existing friendship can be removed from the same social controls.
How do I create or join a community?
Browse Communities to open an existing group and use its join or application option. If community creation is available to your account, use the Create Community page.
Who can manage a community?
The community owner and members whose assigned rank includes the relevant management permissions can update information, ranks, members, news and media settings.
How do I leave a community?
Open the community page and use Leave Community. The link is only shown when you are a current member; an owner may need to transfer ownership or delete the community first.

Privacy and moderation

What information does Xf1re store?
Xf1re stores the account, profile, social, gaming and user-submitted information needed to provide its features. The Privacy Policy describes the categories, purposes and normal retention periods.
Are private conversations publicly visible?
No. Private conversations are not intentionally displayed publicly. Message content is encrypted at rest and is available only through the participants’ authenticated conversation history and restricted operational access when required.
How do I report abusive or illegal content?
Use the report action on the relevant user, game or uploaded item when available. Include enough context for the moderation team to locate and assess the material.
Where can I read the Privacy Policy?
The Privacy Policy is linked in the footer and explains what information is handled, why it is used, normal retention periods and the available account choices.
