The Bounty Board - $100 per Fixed Game
Greetings, my fellow XP users! Ever since my testing of The Achilles Archive began, I have done my absolute very best to ensure a fully functioning and as feasibly complete library as humanly possible. In my testing of the archive, there has been a number of games that I have found impossible to get working. Whether or not I: cracked the gamepatched the gameused emulation DLLs or other file drop in solutionsmade no difference. I'm not willing to rule out that it is simply a skill issue on my part. This is why I'm excited to announce the release of the archive's very own bounty board. This list contains, out of the 1,300 or so games I tested, the 60 something games I hit a complete dead end with. Every game in the list, if fixed for real hardware Windows XP users, can have a reward payout of $100 per game. In total, this bounty board is worth almost $5,000. Payments can be made via CashAp...

MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT: THE ACHILLES ARCHIVE - REVISION 1.5
Right after releasing The Achilles Archive on December 4, 2025, I began testing it as a user to ensure popular games worked properly. That process is now complete. I installed and tested 1,300+ games, fixing issues as they came up, replacing broken packages, removing some titles, and adding new ones. Many games, like Battlefield 2142, are now playable on XP for the first time in years, and others finally have stable configs after years of tinkering. I also wrote clear instructions for hundreds of games. Fewer than 50 games remain broken; they've been separated for future fixes. A bounty system will be announced soon, offering rewards for making these games work on XP, along with a dedicated download section for them. After working on this daily since March 2025, I'm taking a break. For version 2.0, I plan to add alternatives to Soulseek (while keeping it as an option). Thanks to everyone...

The Closure of Myrient - The Source of Most of The Achilles Archive
A very shocking announcement has rattled me to my core today. It is that the currently 390 terabyte database, Myrient, is permanently shutting down on the 31st of March this year. There are many reasons given for this decision in their official Discord and I won't get into that here. This story is making the rounds and you can get a better picture elsewhere. Instead, I will explain why this matters to our clan. I spent a year using Myrient to archive Windows 9x through to Windows XP games. Every day, I spent from late morning through to early morning the next day scrolling through and googling each and every single game in their IBM/PC collection and downloading (at least as a starting point) every single game that met the criteria for The Achilles Archive. The gathering from Myrient came to a conclusion months ago, so this closure won't have an effect on our archive in any way. But it i...

A New Public Game Event Scheduler Has Just Arrived on the Scene
Less than a week ago, a new and totally independent service sprung up seemingly from out of nowhere called GameDate. It's a game event scheduler and announcer that will publicly broadcast a meetup announcement (and instructions if necessary) of the game of your choice and allow for people to vote on their interest in participating in the event. People can declare (anonymously too) that they don't intend on showing up, might be attending, or are definitely attending. It is completely anonymous service and has no ties to any company. There are no advertisements on the website and is very snappy on Windows XP through MyPal. It actually is designed to look like the original 2004 Steam user interface.
